01 AI readiness for community banks and credit unions

The board asked about AI. Do you have a defensible answer?

A structured, self-serve process for community banks and credit unions. Interview your stakeholders, score your readiness, and turn the findings into a report and board deck. No consulting engagement. No sales call. No vendor pitch.

No institution data leaves your building

Every file runs on your own network. Nothing to route through vendor risk review.

Vendor-neutral by design

No software to buy, no builds to sell. The assessment has nothing else to pitch you.

02 The moment

The question always arrives before the answer.

A board member reads about a peer institution's AI pilot. An examiner asks what your governance looks like. The CEO forwards an article with three words: "thoughts on this?"

You need a credible position, and today you have three options. Free vendor checklists give you 15 questions and a follow-up sales call. AI readiness tools score a two-minute quiz, then steer you toward the vendor's own products. Consulting firms quote $10,000 to $150,000 for discovery work. Each one captures something: your email, your answers, or your budget. This kit is the option your institution keeps.

03 The frame

What you receive. What you do. What you produce.

Receive

The materials

A structured interview guide, a scoring workbook, report and deck templates, and governance starters, built for community financial institutions.

Do

The work

Run interviews across an operations track and a retail track, then score the answers across ten readiness dimensions.

Produce

The deliverable

A maturity heatmap, a prioritized gap and opportunity register, a written findings report, and a board presentation. Yours, produced internally, in two to four weeks.

No vendor learns anything about your institution. Every file lives on your own network. And nothing waits behind the score. The kit has no software, no builds, and no follow-on product to sell you.

05 Founder note

Built by someone who sat where you sit.

I spent about 20 years in network security inside regulated banks and credit unions, from firewall engineering to senior security roles at regional institutions. I hold the CISSP and CCSP certifications. I built this kit the way I built internal assessments for years: structured, scored, and written for the people who have to sign off.

You should be skeptical of unknown vendors. I would be. The methodology is published, and sample pages are on every product page. The About page lists everything your vendor review would ask.

06 Before you hire

Before you hire someone to tell you where you stand, find out yourself.

A consulting engagement may make sense someday. Discovery does not have to begin there. Run the assessment, document your environment, and organize your priorities first. If outside expertise becomes necessary later, you enter that conversation with evidence and questions in hand, and the consultant starts at strategy instead of billing you to run interviews.
